Precision Instrument for the Vertical World

Skydiving has always demanded split-second situational awareness in one of the most hostile sensory environments imaginable – freefall at terminal velocity, full sun, polarized lenses, gloves, adrenaline. The airlogONE-X is built as a direct answer to that demand: a skydiving altimeter and data logger that fuses purpose-engineered materials, optical discipline, and intelligent software into something the sport has not seen before.

Form Follows Physics

The enclosure is a hybrid of CNC-routed, hard-anodized aluminum and HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) PA12-Nylon. The aluminum shell provides the structural rigidity and thermal stability a wrist-worn instrument requires – hard anodizing delivers a surface hardness that resists the daily abrasion of rig hardware, dirt, and impact without adding bulk. The PA12 component is not cosmetic filler: it serves as the integrated mounting frame for the entire unit while simultaneously acting as a transparent-enough RF window, allowing the embedded GPS and Wi-Fi antenna to operate without compromise. One part, three functions. Nothing is decorative.

A Display Built for Altitude

The airlogONE-X uses an E-Paper display running in fast-refresh mode – a deliberate choice that rejects the conventional wisdom that skydivers need a backlit LCD. E-Paper is inherently reflective, meaning contrast increases under direct sunlight rather than washing out. Crucially, it remains fully legible through polarizing sunglasses, which block the glare-inducing emissions of conventional displays entirely. A purpose-designed frontlight panel enables full readability in low-light and night-jump conditions without compromising the display’s daytime performance. The screen shows all flight-critical data – altitude, target direction, speed, freefall time – in a clean, high-contrast layout designed for a single glance at 200 km/h.

Analog Intuition in a Digital Instrument

Alongside the display sits a quasi-analog LED altitude bar – a horizontal array of LEDs that illuminates fully at exit altitude and progressively extinguishes as the skydiver descends. It requires no reading, no parsing, no numbers. The remaining light represents remaining altitude. This is peripheral vision information, readable without directing attention to the device, functioning as a continuous ambient reference that integrates naturally with a jumper’s learned altitude awareness. It is one of the few genuinely new interface paradigms introduced to the sport in decades.

Software That Closes the Loop

Every jump is automatically synchronized to the airlog.app platform, where full GPS track data, barometric altitude curves, freefall and canopy phase breakdowns, and canopy performance metrics are available for review. The system bridges the gap between in-air instrumentation and post-jump analysis — from the moment the device detects exit to the moment the jumper reviews their track on a phone. Configuration, firmware updates, and logbook management all happen over Wi-Fi or BLE, with no cables and no friction.

Universality Without Compromise

The airlogONE-X is designed for every discipline — from student through experienced competitor — without adapting its form for any of them. The interface is mode-aware but not mode-burdened: the display reconfigures automatically across the jump phases without requiring pilot input. The mounting system accommodates standard wrist and chest mount configurations. The device is as relevant on a student’s first jump as on an experienced jumper’s five-thousandth.

A New Aesthetic for the Sport

Skydiving equipment has historically borrowed its visual language from military surplus or consumer sports watches. The airlogONE-X proposes something different: the restrained, purposeful aesthetic of a precision instrument. No unnecessary curves, no decorative texture, no brand noise on the face. The material choices are legible — you can see the aluminum is aluminum, the anodizing is structural, the LEDs are functional.
